June is Post-Traumatic Stress Injury (PTSI) Awareness Month

You are here: Home / Announcements / June is Post-Traumatic Stress Injury (PTSI) Awareness Month

June 18, 2019 by LFPD

The California Firefighter Behavioral Health Task Force is asking everyone to raise awareness this month to break the stigma that speaking up is a weakness. Post-traumatic stress is an injury that is no less in need of treatment than a broken bone. Left unaddressed, it can lead to harmful behaviors and, tragically, even suicide.

It’s time to bring PTSI out of the shadows. We stand together on the frontlines and at home – you are not alone.

If you are in crisis, or know someone who is, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is (800) 273-8255.
