State Responsibility Areas (SRA):
CAL FIRE’s office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) has updated the SRA Fire Hazard Severity Zone (FHSZ) maps effective April 1, 2024.
LRA 2025 FHSZ Map Changes
Under State Law, Government Code Section 51179 (b)(3), a local agency (LFPD) SHALL NOT decrease the level of the LRA FHSZ recommended by the OSFM.
A local agency (LFPD) can make additions to or increase the level of the LRA FHSZ recommended by the OSFM. LFPD is not proposing any additions or increases in the LRA FHSZ during this adoption process.
2025 LRA FHSZ Maps Adoption Hearing
The LFPD is required by state law to adopt by ordinance, the OSFM recommended LRA FHSZ maps within 120 days of release by the OSFM. The public hearings for the adoption ordinance have been scheduled at the Lakeside Fire Protection District Board Room, 12216 Lakeside Ave, Lakeside CA 92040
May 27, 2025, 5:30 pm – The first of two public hearings before the Board of Directors, read in title only. The public can make comments during the hearing.
June 24, 2025. 5:30 pm – Second and final public hearing for adoption of the proposed LRA Maps. The maps will be effective 30 days after adoption by the Board of Directors. The public can make comments during the hearing.
Comment Period: There is no formal comment period required by State Law. Comments can be submitted via the online Comment Form. Comments may be used for possible modification for a more restrictive zone but are not allowed to reduce a zone to a less restrictive zone (Government Code 51179)
